How we research
Every article on this site is built from primary sources: carrier prospectuses, NAIC statutory filings, A.M. Best public ratings, SSA period life tables, FRED interest rate data, and S&P historical index returns. We cite our sources on every page. When industry averages are used in calculators, the methodology and date range are disclosed.
Articles are reviewed and updated on a documented cadence. Each page bears a "Last reviewed" date so readers can verify recency. When source data changes, articles are updated and a brief note is added at the bottom of the page.
